Fluent Europe Training - Positive Displacement Pumps
The length of the course is one day. Training is from 9.15am to 5.00pm. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Prerequisites
The course assumes you have previous experience of using FLUENT 6.
Learning Objectives
This course has much in common with our Dynamic Mesh course, however the focus is on the particular meshing demands for simulating positive-displacement pumps.
By the end of this course you should be able to:
- Understand how to approach modelling the changing shape of the fluid region, and select the most appropriate mesh adjustment strategy (remeshing / layering / spring smoothing)
- Understand how to create the initial mesh, set up the model, and Post-Process
Course Agenda
Lectures:
- Introduction to the different types of pump (Gear, Lobe, Gerotor, Crescent, Vane)
- Using the Dynamic Mesh Model (Layering / Spring Smoothing / Remeshing / 2.5D / 6 Degree-of-Freedom)
- Pre-Processing, Model Setup and Post-Processing
- Case Studies (Gear Pumps and Gerotor Pumps)
Hands-On:
- Moving Deforming Mesh : Layering
- Moving Deforming Mesh : Spring Smoothing
- Vane Pump Modelling
- Lobe Pump Modelling
- Gerotor Pump Decomposition and Meshing
