POLYFLOW-Direct & Inverse Extrusion

 

This course is a comprehensive introduction to the numerical simulation of extrusion and die design using POLYFLOW.It is essentially devoted to 2-D and 3-D free surface flow problems of non-Newtonian inelastic fluids.

We elaborate on the concept of free surface in extrusion and the associated numerical tools: initial conditions, direction of motion, corner strategy (for 3-D free surfaces), fixed and moving domains, remeshing algorithms, direct and inverse extrusion problems.

We show how to define a simple problem at the outset and how to handle non-linearities through appropriate evolution parameters. Several 2-D and 3-D applications of technical importance are discussed while sample problems are solved by the students at a workstation.
