Flow Modeling Solutions for the Marine & Offshore Industries
The design of new equipment, whether it is hull forms or propeller shapes, exhaust stacks or engine cooling systems, is more efficient when computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software is used. Rather than relying on costly experimental trials involving towing tanks or laboratory scale mock-ups, preliminary testing using CFD helps narrow the design possibilities.
There are many aspects of production work, including welding, grit blasting, engine placement, spray painting and toxic fume ventilation that have been successfully modeled using Fluent's suite of software products.
And, for equipment that is operational, CFD can be used to identify operating regimes that should be avoided to optimize performance and safety.

Customer Testimonials
“CFD simulation of hydrodynamic, aerodynamic, and free-surface flows has become an integral part of America's Cup sailing boat design. Our experience during the past two Swiss campaigns has demonstrated that Fluent software can provide both qualitative and quantitative information of importance for a wide range of design-critical flows. This has assisted the optimization of existing design concepts, and enabled rapid assessment of potential non-conventional approaches. The flexibility and ease-of-use of GAMBIT and FLUENT have proved to be an advantage not only for seasoned CFD practitioners, but also for engineering students undertaking their first CFD project.”
