"At our laboratory, we study CFD techniques and their applications to marine engineering. The ease-of-use of FLUENT has significantly increased our productivity. It is impressive that undergraduate students with essentially no knowledge of CFD can mesh a complex geometry and run a simulation within one month, thanks to the well-organized manuals and tutorials. FLUENT is also an excellent base solver for developing new models. The robustness and flexibility to code user-defined functions allows us to concentrate our efforts on the development of advanced numerical models.”

"CFD simulation of hydrodynamic, aerodynamic, and free-surface
flows has become an integral part of America’s Cup sailing boat
design. Our experience during the past two Swiss campaigns has demonstrated
that Fluent software can provide both qualitative and quantitative information
of importance for a wide range of design-critical flows. This has assisted
the optimization of existing design concepts, and enabled rapid assessment
of potential non-conventional approaches. The flexibility and ease-of-use
of GAMBIT and FLUENT have proved to be an advantage not only for seasoned
CFD practitioners, but also for engineering students undertaking their
first CFD project.”

"Every product in the shipbuilding industry is completely tailor-made,
and therefore, each project requires separate R&D efforts and individual
design. The tight schedules and large scales of the product make physical
testing nearly impossible. At DSME, FLUENT has been validated against
test results to give us confidence in its predictions. We have used it
for simulations of smoke emission, boundary layer flow around streamlined
bodies, and HVAC&R studies. The combination of high performance computing,
and the quantitative accuracy and wealth of physical models in FLUENT
has helped us save millions of dollars. More importantly, we see CFD as
a rapidly expanding technology for the shipbuilding and marine industry
as a whole."

"We use FLUENT to study the wave motion induced fluid sloshing inside
offshore oilfield separators to be installed on deep-water platforms.
Thanks to user-defined functions (UDFs), our work has greatly benefited
from having the ability to accurately simulate the effectiveness of NATCO
engineered internals under different sea states, which allows us to quickly
optimize the vessel design and maximize separation efficiency. Applying
CFD strategically, we can ensure that NATCO stays at the leading edge
of supplying state-of-the-art processing equipment to handle the ever-demanding
needs of the oil and gas industry."
