Sensor Design and Placement
A pivotal component of preventing acts of terrorism is to design portals and sensor arrays for detecting dangerous substances and suspicious behavior. While suspicious behavior is typically detected using optical sensors and acoustic devices, the detection of specific chemical traces and particles involves the collection, concentration, purification and analysis of the samples.
Fluent has developed expertise in this area through applications such as the design and optimal placement of sensors on aircraft exteriors and inside aircraft engines, and the design of the flow path through smoke detectors.
Fluent's recent efforts have reflected the increased threat of terrorist attacks such as the prediction of loads and pressures resulting from explosive blast waves, the design of sensors used for blast pressure measurements and the optimal placement of sensors in subway stations.
