Human Factors: Inhalation, Suits, Masks & Skin Penetration

One of the fastest growing areas in the Homeland Security industry is that of safety. CFD is highly effective in designing safety equipment (such as masks and suits), reliable fumigation equipment and cleanup operation procedures. CFD also assists the medical community in the aftermath of an attack by allowing insight into the toxin and medication penetration level in the human respiratory system and skin.

Fluent's CFD software helps our customers better understand the flow:

  • In the human nasal passages and trachea
  • Of air-suspended droplets in and out of the human lung, with contracting and expanding airways
  • Through a nasal mask
  • Of droplets (mist) associated with an inhaler
  • And penetration of microparticles through human skin (biolistics)
