You can use Fluent CFD software to model the steady and transient heating and cooling of reactors using jackets or coils. The CFD analysis of the heating or cooling of the reactor contents provides information on the local heat transfer coefficients on the process and jacket sides of the reactor, the cooling or heating rates, and the time to reach a certain process temperature.
Model mixing processes with heat tranfer coils. Heat transfer coefficients on the process side of the coils and on the process vessel walls can be obtained locally or integrated globally. Below is an example of a hydrogenator with multiple agitators and coils.
