Multiphase modeling predicts the flow of dispersed methane gas in a hydrocarbon liquid. This generic check valve is simulated at the fully open position to determine forces on the valve disc. The transient simulation shows a vortex shedding phenomenon from the lower lip of the valve disc, revealing an opportunity to improve the design of the disc for better performance.
