Nonwoven filter media are increasingly popular for their filtration efficiency
for both liquids and gases. The applications include automobile, petrochemicals,
pharmaceuticals and food processing industries, as well as clean room
technologies. Nonwoven filters are also in use for dust filtration in
mines, metal foundries, aluminum smelters, electric arc furnaces, basic
oxygen furnaces, incinerators, and for diverse industrial ventilation
systems. Using CFD to simulate the flow inside a filter, a design can
be analyzed and parametric modeling can derive suitable design modification
ideas. It is also possible to analyze the filter performance after prolonged
usage when the accumulated dust and dirt enhances flow resistance.
