Coathanger Dies

Coathanger dies are used in a variety of applications including the extrusion of plastic films and the feeding of meltblown dies. The performance of the coathanger die is characterized by the flow uniformity at its outlet. It is desirable to design the die in order to minimize its sensitivity to the polymer properties and operating conditions. The design of the die, in terms of slot thickness, die width, manifold profile and angle, can be optimized for acceptable performance over a range of polymer properties. CFD can be used to analyze die performance and optimize the design on the computer before cutting any metal thus saving considerable time and money.
