FLUENT CFD software has been used successfully to simulate the sloshing of water during a wash cycle in the drum of a front loading washing machine. This two-dimensional simulation illustrates that the VOF model is capable of capturing the essential physics of the sloshing water, and tracking the free surface during the early stages of the wash cycle.
