In addition to providing lumination, automotive lamps generate significant
quantities of thermal energy. An important aspect of their design is to
select materials conducive to these high thermal loads. At Valeo Sylvania,
CFD is becoming an integral part of the thermal analysis of these components
predicting the radiation and convection flows occurring in the lamps'
interiors. From these temperature profiles, the components proposed design
can be analyzed and validated without the expense or time consumption
of building prototypes.
