Electronics Industry Customer Testimonials

"Over the past six years FLUENT has been our Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tool of choice within the Print Engine Development Unit at Xerox Corporation. We use the code to solve a wide variety of fluid dynamics and heat transfer problems both at the sub-system and system levels. The robustness of FLUENT CFD allows us to develop concepts into final designs with minimal testing and building of prototypes. It is estimated that the cost savings in reducing prototypes and testing alone are a significant percentage of the overall development costs. More important, however, is that FLUENT also provides an in-depth understanding of sub-system interactions within the print engine architecture. These interactions are difficult, and in many cases, impossible to measure using lab equipment."

"Thank you very much for a job well done. We appreciate your help on this difficult problem and are very happy with the results. The speed and thoroughness of your thermal analysis and modeling work is really commendable. We look forward to working with you again in the future.

For many years, we have been prototyping and re-prototyping to pass our vigorous thermal requirement. Lots of money and time have been lost but worst was the big delay in our schedule. Today, with the use of Icepak, we are able to optimize the design during the conceptual design phase. When we tested our first prototype, the difference between the measured data with the Icepak result was .5°C for the 250A design, and .95°C for the 600A design. In addition, the simulated scenarios show that the units will pass the 150% overload at an altitude of 2000m. This is a big step to shorten our design and development time and to deliver a reliable and cost effective product. I am very pleased with the accuracy obtained and am grateful for the prompt support from all highly professional and very competent application engineers.”

"We had a very short time to resolve the thermal issues in our new Optical Network Terminal. We needed help and asked Fluent to assist us with the thermal design and simulation of this product. Fluent engineers very quickly built detailed CFD models and solved them. After prototypes were made, we measured the temperature rise in the optical circuit and were astonished to see that it was only 0.6C at high altitude! This was well within the very challenging target of 1C rise over ambient temperature. Fluent engineers did this on time and accurately; the results were beyond our expectations. I highly recommend Fluent Thermal Consultants for any challenging thermal design and analysis work.”

"We chose Icepak over other electronics cooling software for its ease-of-use and several advanced features. The universities and telecommunication companies we work with tell us that Icepak is the appropriate software to use in the field of electronics cooling. This was also very important to us. In addition, we can get access to advanced models in FLUENT, if and when needed. Icepak contains several features that benefit our needs, including the ability to handle circular, cylindrical, elliptical, and polygonal objects, both in 3D and 2D, allowing us to handle details like heatsink fins with aerodynamic design. Icepak is also faster due to the smaller meshes that follow the complex geometry. Further, the non-conformal (assembly) meshing creates models with fewer cells, retaining the degree of accuracy. Icepak also offers a "Zoom-In Model", helping us to analyze a selected region of a full-sized model in greater detail by automatically creating the zoomed-in model with boundary conditions from the full-size model.”

"FLUENT has been an instrumental tool in the product development of our consumer goods. This software has enabled us to visualize air flow patterns in our electronic hard disk drive applications that otherwise would have been very difficult to attain experimentally. Using FLUENT as a design optimization tool has allowed us to increase the functionality of our disk drive filter devices by 50%."

"Schneider Electric, a leader in the field of electrical distribution and industrial automation, has standardized its thermal management tools, and has selected Icepak and FLUENT software from Fluent to help in this effort."

"Icepak is successfully used by the design teams, and responds to most of Schneider Electric's thermal simulation needs. It predicts the airflow and heat transfer in the equipment with accuracy and precision, and helps reduce product cost and development time.”
