Automotive Industry Customer Testimonials

"I highly recommend FLUENT software and consulting services. We approached Fluent as a startup company with limited capital and many questions regarding the design of an aerodynamic attachment for semi trucks. Fluent appeared to be he most cost effective means of analyzing our design and gaining performance estimates. Compared to wind tunnel or full scale testing, Fluent's CFD option was faster, a fraction of the cost, and way less hassle. We didn't realize the flow analysis made possible by their software and expertise would enable us to identify and solve problems with the design, leading to a highly improved product. At every stage of the project, Fluent consultants went above and beyond expectations to ensure the quality of the tests and our satisfaction. Since the test, the impressive CFD images Fluent provided us with have become the focal point of our marketing efforts, as they clearly illustrate the benefits of aerodynamic design in a colorful way anyone can understand. Thank You Fluent!”

"Tesma Engine Technologies has found Fluent CFD software to provide the best overall predictive package results for our centrifugal pump and cooling systems analysis applications. We have consistently found the prediction performance, versus actual test results, to be in the realm of +-5%.
Tesma Engine Technologies now applies Fluent CFD analysis in all design solutions and has consistently found the results to be directionally correct in all trials undertaken. This has resulted in our Corporation saving substantial costs associated with purchasing prototypes and conducting expensive time consuming test cycles."

"The FLUENT code is characterized above all by its user-friendliness and by its intuitive environment. Thanks to those features and its robust, accurate, and efficient solver, FLUENT has been readily adopted into our existing design process at the engine department. We now routinely use the code for simulation of engine related flows such as intake and exhaust systems."

"Reliable statements about the strain of each individual component are essential for developing high-performance car exhaust systems. We at Boysen have been using FLUENT for many years for the numerical simulation of transient and highly turbulent flows. The calculations are the basis for evaluating and optimizing components with respect to strength and emissions. We consider Fluent to be a competent partner in software support and also a reliable service provider when dealing with complex problems."
-Florian Lüderitz
Friedrich Boysen GmbH & Co. KG, Germany
"In my business, you can never be fast enough, and the results can never be too accurate. The Fluent suite of products (GAMBIT, TGrid, and FLUENT) has allowed us to strike an impressive balance of speed and quality. This balance, in turn, allowed us to use full blown 3D CFD in designs of experiments of significant size, and complete the DOEs in time to drive engine design. If the balance were tipped in either direction, the DOE would become either late or misleading, both of which render it useless. The robustness of the solver itself is a great bonus, because we can submit-and-forget."
-Edward C. Hernandez
Supervisor, Flow and Thermal Methods
Analytical Powertrain Department
Ford Motor Company
"To win at anything you have to surround yourself with the best. That is why we use FLUENT CFD software to visualize and analyze fluid flows such as air flowing over the vehicle or water flowing through the cylinder head. FLUENT is an integral part of keeping our race teams at their best."
-Joe Gibbs
NFL Hall of Fame Football Coach and Team Owner of Reigning Winston Cup Champion Bobby Labonte Car
"In experimentation with engine cooling systems we needed a discipline that would validate fluid flow to the satisfaction of our customers - the major automobile manufacturers. The ease of use, accuracy, and global acceptance of FLUENT CFD software has gained us large contracts with key automobile manufacturers and reinforced our reputation as technology leaders in automotive engine systems. In addition to its superior accuracy, ease of use, and consistency, FLUENT is also absolutely amazing in its parallel processing ability. We assembled a small Linux cluster and obtained a parallel processing license. FLUENT performed flawlessly in our clustered environment the first time we tried it. Setting up and running a job in parallel is seamless to the end user, making FLUENT the ultimate return on investment in simulation tools."
-Ryan Huizenga

"FLUENT has played an essential role in Bosch's DC motor durability program. By modeling our motors at various speeds and cooling flow rates, changes in flow patterns were discovered. Without knowing to look for them, they would be virtually impossible to discern experimentally. The predicted temperatures were within 6 C of experiments, for the entire test matrix.
Furthermore, GAMBIT's journaling capability allowed a parametric approach to model building to be used. In this way, frame sizes, frame lengths, number of cooling holes, etc., are variables and easily changed. Building and meshing a model now takes hours instead of weeks."
-Robert Hickey, PE
Research Engineer, Robert Bosch Corporation

"Tesma has used FLUENT to help predict performance on every water pump project. We also use CFD to optimize impeller and volute shape, including, where necessary, to balance flow to both banks of V engines, thus reducing testing validation time. Typically, flow modeling analysis predicts to within less than 10% of the actual test result."

-Slobodan Rancic

"We routinely use FLUENT for pressure drop predictions on both intake and exhaust systems for off road vehicles. Results have generally correlated to within 4%. This, along with flow field visualization, has allowed us to have a high level of confidence in our designs before prototyping and cut significant time (10%) from the design process."

- Richard Kunde
Project Engineer, Donaldson Company Inc.

"Speed is a concern of ours every step of the way. That includes learning to use new software. I was extremely pleased with the ease and speed that I was able to effectively use FLUENT software. I can now analyze powertrain components such as manifold or intake ports from CAD to solution in just one day. The accuracy and robustness of FLUENT, coupled with unlimited technical support from their Ann Arbor-based automotive team, were critical to the quick implementation of CFD, which is new to our industry."
