Climate & Comfort Control

From component to full vehicle interior analysis, FLUENT offers the most comprehensive set of CFD tools for design and analysis of automotive climate controls systems. The robustness and accuracy of our unstructured solver provides quality results on meshes, which can be rapidly generated. This dramatically speeds up overall CAD-to-solution time.

Beyond traditional HVAC modeling (including the prediction of airflow distribution, thermal stratification and blower performance), the simulation of passenger compartment climatic conditions is becoming increasingly important. CFD complements wind tunnel and field testing to help achieve improved thermal comfort while reducing vehicle development time and cost. Detailed flow in the cabin and thermal patterns on passengers can be analyzed for both vehicle warm-up and cool-down cycles. Our advanced modeling capabilities allow for solar loading and coupling to human thermal comfort models.

FLUENT also offers industry-leading modeling capabilities for multiphase flows extending the applicability of CFD to predict phase change in heat exchangers, de-frosting/de-misting patterns on windscreens, phase separation and water ingestion.
