FLUENT 6 Testimonials

Faster, easier to use

"Fluent has entered into a league of their own with the release of FLUENT 6. In my testing efforts, I found that even when using the Eulerian-Eulerian model for complex geometries, along with FLUENT's fully unstructured code, the calculation time was substantially faster than FLUENT 4.5. In addition to these major enhancements, the code remains easy to use and continues to employ its intuitive setup."

- M. Karim Essemiani, Vivendi Water, France

Turbomachinery enhancements

"We were able to test the non-reflecting boundary conditions and partially premixed combustion model - both new to FLUENT 6. Overall, we felt that this new version of the code will address many issues which are important to turbomachinery design."

- Dr. Peter Flohr, ALSTOM Power Ltd., Switzerland

Spray models show promise

"The testing that I have done on the spray model enhancements in FLUENT 6 have shown promise for Jaguar's future powertrain applications. Qualitatively speaking, the spray geometries were correct, problem setup was straightforward and logical, and the post-processing capabilities were excellent. For all scenarios modeled, the solutions converged well with few problems."

- Steven Pierson, Jaguar Cars, U.K.

Better combustion models

"In our activities we often need to simulate partially premixed industrial burners. Until now, we had tried to simulate them using the Magnussen & Hjertager model, but continually ran into problems. With FLUENT 6 we are able to study the burner behavior in a more suitable way by using the partially premixed combustion model. And, as usual, the code is user friendly and has an exceptional post-processing function for generating graphics."

- Dr. Giorgio Calchetti and Marco Rufoloni, ENEA (Italian International Agency for New Technology, Energy, and the Environment), Italy

Breadth of models

"Version 6 provides greater breadth to simulate different types of analyses. New features, such as supersonic flow using the PDF model, and improvements in post processing, have brought CFD to a whole new level. I envision that this code will greatly benefit my work in simulating burner exit profiles and testing previous models."

- Jamey Condevaux, Combustion Engineer, Williams International, U.S.

Significant step forward

"As a research institute, we are using several commercial CFD codes. We already consider FLUENT to be a good quality code, however, version 6 is a significant step forward. The code's ability to utilize unstructured grids in multiphase simulations (Eulerian and mixture models) will be extremely beneficial in projects such as bubbly flows and fluidized beds."

- Mikko Manninen, Group Manager, VTT Energy, Finland

Faster and more robust

"FLUENT 6 appears to be faster and more robust than previous versions. This enhanced performance now makes it possible to simulate complex geometries, such as bubble columns with internals, in a reasonable amount of time using the Eulerian approach. The ability to use the mixture model in applications where more than two phases are involved offers a much faster alternative to the Eulerian approach in most industrial problems."

- Fabrizio Podenzani, CFD Group Leader, EniTecnologie, Italy

Expanded multiphase capabilities

"Having tested multiphase modeling, I was happy to see that the Eulerian-Eulerian and mixture models are included with version 6. The wealth of models and increased speed, along with the ability to run up to twenty continuous phases, put this product in a class of its own."

- Peng Chen , Department of Chemical Engineering, Washington University, U.S.
