Reaction Design, Inc.

Reaction Design, Inc. provides high-tech software and consulting solutions for solving rate-based chemistry problems. Focus industries include combustion, chemical processing and microelectronics. The CHEMKIN® Collection software, which provides engineers with a tool for simulating complex chemical kinetics in the gas and surface phases, is Reaction Design's principle software product. CHEMKIN facilitates optimizing processes for greater efficiency and reduced environmental impact. Common applications include: catalytic conversion in chemical manufacturing, chemical vapor deposition and etch for electronic chip manufacture, fuel cell reformer analysis, and IC engine and NOx reduction studies in combustion systems.

Reaction Design works with customers and strategic partners to develop process specific simulation tools and chemical mechanisms. Drawing on an expertise in modeling and sophisticated in-house tools, Reaction Design also provides high-level consultancy to customers looking to maximize their plant's potential.

Reaction Design produces CHEMKIN®, the de facto standard for modeling of gas and surface-phase chemistry. For chemically intensive systems, an understanding of detailed kinetics is essential for streamlining development time and costs, and achieving the appropriate yield without unwanted byproducts. CHEMKIN predicts the chemical conditions of a system based on variable reactor parameters, inlet gas, and catalyst compositions. Applications include simulation of NOx production, NOx/CO/UHC reduction through after-treatment, flame-speed and ignition timing studies.

Based on CHEMKIN, the KINetics™ Module allows incorporation of detailed gas-phase and surface chemistry into FLUENT using stiff-chemistry solution methods for both transient and steady-state problems and for simulating detailed gas-phase and gas-surface chemistry in multidimensional, chemically reacting flows, closely coupling Reaction Design's KINetics™ chemistry-solver module with FLUENT's flow simulation.
