OPTIMUM Power Technology is an innovative company that was founded with the mission of developing the world's best simulation-based engine design tools and engine management systems. OPTIMUM's products span engine simulation software, pressure trace analysis, engine management systems and fuel injection.

A new and unique engine design environment named the Automated Design Expert System accelerates the engine design process by an order of magnitude. Wrapping advanced optimization methods in an easy to use interface, Automated Design can find improved design even when existing design methodologies have failed. Adding Optimums Network Supercomputer (linking hundreds of existing PCs for simulation), yields high throughput of design studies.

Underpinning the system are Virtual 2-Stroke and Virtual 4-Stroke that combine powerful 1D mathematical methods with the latest visualization techniques to accurately simulate a complete IC engine. The 1D nature of the calculations allows for complete engine cycle simulation in seconds. However, for some situations a full 3D solution is required to capture phenomena such as flow through complex plenums or pipe geometries. In this instance FLUENT may be easily linked to provide the 3D portion of the model. Data integrity is maintained at the boundaries of the two solutions allowing for a fully automatic co-simulation. These tools include performance, emission and noise predictions, as well as detailed crank-angle based animation of all thermodynamic and gas dynamic processes throughout the entire engine.
