Fluent Inc. Announces Plastics Database Interface
Fluent's POLYFLOW Code Interface with CAMPUS Delivers Industry's Most Comprehensive Plastics Database
Lebanon, NH, USA/Aachen, Germany-September 1, 2000-Fluent Inc., the leading provider of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software and M-Base Engineering + Software GmbH, announce the availability of a database interface between Fluent's POLYFLOW CFD code and M-Base's CAMPUS Merge Program (MCBase). This database interface will provide faster, seamless, computer-aided engineering for design and analysis of polymer manufacturing processes.
The Most Comprehensive Database Available
Users can export material properties for flow simulation directly into POLYFLOW via the new interface. The current CAMPUS database makes the properties of about 6000 materials available, with more planned for inclusion in later releases. This gives users the advantage of direct access to the world's leading plastics information system -- ensuring high quality and comparable data based on international standards. In addition, this eliminates the need for users to manually convert material data.
According to M-Base Managing Director Dr. -Ing. Erwin Baur, "Distribution of high quality material data via CAMPUS has become an industrial standard in the plastics industry. So far, the data is mainly used for material selection and individual evaluations during the design process. The next logical step, which is requested by our users, is the direct link between the material database and engineering software. This interface to POLYFLOW is a major step toward the integration of CAMPUS in the computer aided engineering environment," Baur stated.
According to POLYFLOW Products Market Manager Thierry Marchal, "Access to CAMPUS's large material database will greatly simplify the work of our users by avoiding the need to measure numerous experimental data. In addition, the quality of the numerical results will be improved because more specifics of the users' plastics will be taken into account," Marchal concluded.
POLYFLOW is a fully interactive software, which models the flow of fluids in industrial processes. It's ease of use makes it the ideal tool to understand, modify, and improve a variety of industrial processes, such as extrusion and coextrusion, internal flow, fiber spinning, blow molding/thermoforming, film casting, screw design, laminar mixing, and glass applications with a special expertise in viscoelasticity.
CAMPUS, which stands for Computer Aided Material Preselection by Uniform Standards, is the internationally reputed database software for plastic materials. The plastics properties catalogue includes single-point data, multi-point data, processing data, and product description texts. Users can also select plastic products for specific applications by using easy query options.
