Flow pathlines in a coal mill and vaned classifier |
Fluent's consulting services established an easy-to-use methodology for
our customer's application of CFD to development of improved coal classifier
products. The baseline models of the coal classifier involved generation
of complex 3D geometry and mesh, including representation of stationary
and rotating classifier vanes. After confirming the performance of the
CFD model by comparison to flow in existing designs, Fluent created a
template that allowed the CFD model parameters to be modified easily.
The resulting CFD methodology was able to examine a range of geometry
and flow options, improving the product performance more quickly and at
lower cost than through experimental prototyping.
Fluent created
the complex CFD models for static and dynamic classifiers and delivered
templates to the customer to facilitate quick examination of parametric
design changes.
