A contingent of 21 Fluent employees from India and Europe embarked on an 18- day expedition into the Himalayas, and attempted to scale Mount Saifee (20,287 feet), situated in the Gangotri region of the mountain range. The expedition, which took months of planning, was a success. The peak was reached by two members of the team, Dhyaneshwar Bhalekar from Fluent India and Andrew Young from Fluent Europe. Five other members fell short by just 200 feet due to a snow storm. They were Yatin Tayalia, Anurag Sharma, Sameet Mudbidri, Harshad Karve, and Paresh Patel. The full expedition included days for acclimation, load ferrying between camps, and then the actual assault on Mount Saifee. There were five camps set up en route. The first camp was at Gangotri, the place that marked the end of three days of perilous road travel. The second camp was at Bhojbasa, around 4 kilometers from Gomukh, the place where a part of the Ganges River begins. The next camp was the base camp at Raktavarna, which marked the start of the actual expedition. A portion of the group, who were only interested in the initial trekking and camping, returned to the start at this point. Beyond the base camp, there were two more camps, Camp 1 (17,500 ft) and the Summit camp (19,000 ft). The logistics involved in the expedition were enormous and were handled quite efficiently by the organizers, Rajesh Rana and Ketan Rajput. The trekkers had a support team of 10 from the base camp onwards, which included the organizers, the cooks, and most importantly, the high-altitude porters. ![]() Team Fluent, at base camp.
