HyperTrace Introduced for Flow Visualization

HyperTrace is an exciting new tool for flow visualization, developed by SGI/Cray and distributed by Fluent for use on SGI computers. By animating your flow field predictions, this unique offering can help you effectively communicate CFD results to both expert and non-expert audiences.

HyperTrace uses interpolated flow field data to compute the trajectories of user-specified sets of tracer particles. Display of the trajectories provides outstanding animated visualization for both steady and unsteady flows. While many packages, including Fluent's CFD software, use tracer particles for visualization, HyperTrace is unique in its ability to efficiently compute a large number (hundreds of thousands) of tracer particles using the parallel processing capability of SGI machines.

Animations generated using HyperTrace can be stored and replayed as flow visualization movies. The SGI "moviemaker" facility is used to create the animation, which can be stored in a range of formats and replayed on any platform. By supporting several file standards for data import, HyperTrace provides visualization support for FIDAP, FLUENT, FLUENT/UNS, and RAMPANT
