In the upcoming release of FLUENT 4.5, the RNG advanced capability package
includes a suite of computational models that significantly broaden its
range of application. Key application areas of the RNG package include:
- Transitional flows and the consequent time-dependent mean-flow effects
- Characteristics of turbulent buoyancy-driven flows
- Effects of strong rotation on turbulence and on heat and mass transfer
phenomena
- A compressible RNG model with high-Mach-number and compressible effects
taken into account in the formulation of the turbulence equations
- Accurate description of premixed combustion, including laminar and
steady turbulent combustion, combustion instabilities, and combustion-induced
unsteadiness
Comparison of predicted and experimental velocity profiles
in a rotating channel at two different rotational speeds and flow rates.
Representative results of some test problems computed using the improved
RNG advanced turbulence modeling package are shown here, illustrating
the ability of FLUENT to give excellent predictions of physical behavior
in complex flow situations.
Instantaneous oscillating flame front prediction using the RNG premixed
combustion model.
