FLUENT/UNS Matches Fan Performance Data

Designers at Türk Elektrik have developed confidence in using FLUENT/UNS for fan design, following a benchmark study recently completed. The FLUENT/UNS model of the fan, used in the company's domestic vacuum cleaner products, matched the experimental measurement of pressure rise through the fan nearly exactly. A series of parametric models, testing new design options over a range of operating conditions, can now be conducted in order to gain insight into how flow separation, stall, and flow reversal may impact design performance.

The centrifugal fan pictured here was used to validate the accuracy of FLUENT/UNS for fan modeling. The CFD prediction of pressure rise, equal to 21500 Pa, was within 2% of the experimental measurement of 21000 Pa.
