The Are your CFD projects growing beyond the capacity of your computers or stretching the limits of your in-house expertise? Are you new to CFD or under pressure to generate high-profile results on a tight deadline? Perhaps you could benefit from code customization that would streamline the CFD process for your applications. These are just some of the needs that Fluent's consulting services can help you address. Unparalleled ResourcesWith 15 years of CFD and engineering consulting experience, a worldwide team of over 50 consultants, and high-performance computing systems, Fluent offers unparalleled resources that can help your organization succeed with CFD. Recent projects have ranged from complete problem solving services to complex mesh generation assistance to custom template development for design iterations. We deliver customized software for specific modeling needs and establish corporate partnerships that team our consultants with your project engineers. Regardless of the project type, our goals are to work with you to understand your need, contribute expertise in CFD and fluid flow physics, and execute a successful project that meets your budget and schedule needs. Model Building ServicesState-of-the-art solutions for floating production and fixed offshore platforms, a wide range of products, and specialized services and facilities allow Aker Maritime to offer turnkey deliveries to the oil and gas sector. Aker Maritime uses Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) as an active tool in the engineering process in order to measure the impact on safety from changes in design and to provide necessary input to cost/benefit evaluations. In order to obtain a living QRA, reliable results of gas dispersion have to be available on short notice when problems are identified in the ongoing engineering process. Aker Maritime approached the consultancy group at Fluent Europe to model a preliminary design of the floating production, storage, and offloading ship shown here. The study addressed explosion, fire, and smoke hazards associated with accidental natural gas releases. Working with a tight deadline, the consulting team helped Aker by constructing the CFD model geometry and mesh. Aker engineers then performed a series of parametric studies that examined various leakage scenarios. The Fluent consulting team helped Aker adhere to the project schedule and meet their safety requirements. Courtesy of Aker Maritime
Validation StudiesTexas Instruments, Inc., wanted to evaluate the ability of RAMPANT to contribute to the design of their tactical missiles. As part of this evaluation, TI enlisted the consulting group at Fluent to perform a validation study of the missile depicted below. In addition to supplying CFD analysts, Fluent provided high-end computing power to shorten the computation time on the large (700,000 cell) model. The compressible, turbulent flow around the missile was simulated in RAMPANT and the computed lift, drag, and center of pressure were compared to flight data. The good agreement between the simulation results and flight data created confidence that RAMPANT can be used to reduce the amount of wind tunnel testing required to validate new designs. The consulting project work thus formed the basis for future RAMPANT studies by TI engineers. Courtesy of Texas Instruments, Inc.
