FLUENT Linked to Pro/ENGINEER® for External Analysis
As a PTC ® Enterprise Software Partner, Fluent seeks to add value
for our clients who use Pro/ENGINEER ® . The recent implementation
of a native Pro/ENGINEER ® geometry interface to GAMBIT is one important
example. In addition, PTC and Fluent worked together recently to demonstrate
how FLUENT and GAMBIT can be used from within Pro/ENGINEER ® 's
"external analysis" capability. The resulting prototype integration,
showcased at the PTC/User meeting in June, allows FLUENT and GAMBIT to
be launched from within Pro/ENGINEER ® and return selected results
as Pro/ENGINEER ® analysis features. The resulting integration makes
it possible to use FLUENT predictions as the basis for evaluating design
changes using sensitivity analysis or automated shape optimization ("Behavioral
Modeling"™) directly within Pro/ENGINEER ® .
"Pro/ENGINEER ® external analysis integration is another link
in tying Fluent's software into the CAD environment that our clients
use," noted Barbara Hutchings, Fluent's Director of Strategic
Partnerships. "While far from fully general, the simple prototype
demonstrated in June can easily be customized to address specific problems
and it enables a direct connection between CAD changes and analysis results.
Along with the upcoming capability to import Pro/ENGINEER ® parts
into GAMBIT 2.0, this integration shows our commitment to Pro/ENGINEER
