MixSim 1.7 is Released

 

In April 2000, we released MixSim 1.7. MixSim is a comprehensive analysis tool for complete hydrodynamic simulation of agitated mixing vessels. It has an easy-to-use interface, written in the technical language of mixing, so users can rapidly create a computer model of a mixing vessel and predict its mixing characteristics. Using MixSim, the flow patterns and other phenomena, such as chemical reaction, can be visualized and integral quantities reported.

MixSim is used to design, troubleshoot, and scale-up agitated mixing tanks and reactors. It predicts the complete blending and motion in batch, semi-batch, and continuous stirred tanks, and incorporates additional transport phenomena important in mixing applications. Users can also visualize mass, momentum, and/or heat transfer of single and multiple phases in the mixing vessel and obtain integral quantities, such as blending time and minimum suspension speed.

The 1.7 release contains several new significant enhancements, such as:

  • New mixing analysis/correlations capabilities,
  • Enhanced graphical postprocessing,
  • A host of new impeller geometries from leading equipment vendors, and
  • Import of BHRGroup’s FMP impeller velocity data.
