We are very pleased to announce that our quality management system has recently undergone an external audit by the British Standards Institution (BSI), and has been recommended for registration to ISO 9001 and TickIT International Standards. Please join us in celebrating our achievement!
One of our key goals as a company has been the improvement of product quality. To achieve this, we have decided to implement a quality management system that is compliant with international standards. Our quality system covers all the essential business processes in the software product life cycle. It takes our core technologies, customer needs, and product plans, and translates them (in a constant and reliable fashion) into software products that you use. We chose the ISO 9001 and ISO 9000-3 standards as a basis for the requirements of our quality system. ISO 9001 applies to businesses that are involved in design, development, production, installation, and servicing. The ISO 9000-3 standard contains guidelines for applying ISO 9001 requirements specifically to software industries. Registration to ISO 9000-3 is referred to as TickIT. TickIT applies to all types of information technology systems that involve software development processes, and is supported by the UK and Swedish software industries. Our quality management system is based on continuous improvement and is driven by a set of quality objectives. These objectives have been derived largely from what you, our users, have been telling us. Whether the source has been customer survey questionnaires, more detailed interviews, or through User Group Meeting interactions, it is your feedback that has helped us to understand what the most important aspects of product quality are. Our objectives for product quality are encapsulated in this quality policy statement: “Fluent’s Quality System is aimed at satisfying the needs and expectations
of our customers. We are committed to improving the process of translating
market needs into product deliverables, reducing the number of software
defects reported by our customers, and improving the response time in
resolving defect-related problems experienced by our customers.” Our quality system is based on three main components: procedures, tools, and our knowledge base. Quality management procedures are what our staff follow whenever they do work that could affect product quality. Tools are used to support quality software development and include automated testing tools, tools for source code management, and tools for software design. Our knowledge base contains information systems that store, communicate, and report quality-related data, such as our corporate-wide database systems and improved web-based (Intranet) applications. Certification to international standards should give you added confidence and assurance that our software product quality is being controlled. By implementing a quality management system and gaining certification, we plan to demonstrate that the delivery of quality is a principal management objective of Fluent, and that you, our valued customers, play a key role in this process. |
